Psychedelics

I have always found psychedelics to be fascinating drugs that should be studied more thoroughly, but have not been delved into during contemporary times due to the use of them being illicit in many modernized countries.  The study that I read pertained to the uses of LSD and psilocybin producing mystical experiences. MAPS, an organization that this research studied as a sample, is a non-profit organization dedicated to the support of medical uses of LSD, psilocybin, MDMA, and cannabis. When consuming a sufficient quantity of Psilocybin, LSD, and in rare cases of MDMA use, users seem to have mystical or spiritual experiences based on the dose and potency of the drug.  The consumption of psilocybin and LSD seems to be rare for the majority of people who have taken one or both, usually less than once a month do they undergo such hallucinogenic experiences.  However, cannabis consumers had almost half of its population reporting daily use.  The study proclaims that LSD has declined in potency since the 1960s.
In this study, it was interpreted that users of psychedelic drugs have on average more empathy, creativity, spirituality, and a concern for the environment that those who have never consumed such substances.  They do not encourage high doses or frequent consumption of LSD or psilocybin, though acknowledge that the two are extremely safe in the physiological sense.  Uncontrolled abuse can lead to panic attacks or bad trips that are consequently followed by post-traumatic stress symptoms.  This is generally only for those who are psychologically unstable and immature. Proper application of these drugs can be utilized for medical, spiritual, or mind expanding experiences in the future under stable conditions and environments and when consumed by those who are mentally and physically prepared for the journey.
